Character Education

Character Education is integrated into everything we do at Beacon Preparatory Academy. Our learning environment is positive and constructive. Our code of conduct is based on respect and cooperation and our unique culture is the essence of our school.

Through our character education program, our students are provided with the essential skills to interact with one another and other members of society. During the school year, children focus on ten character education values with one value assigned to each month of the school year. Under the umbrella of respect and responsibility the values include:

  • September: Integrity
  • October: Honesty
  • November: Curiosity
  • December: Creativity
  • January: Cooperation and teamwork
  • February: Respect
  • March: Empathy and compassion
  • April: Tolerance
  • May: Responsibility
  • June: Self-discipline

A series of questions, character challenges, scenarios, literature, and activities align with each monthly value and is discussed with students in their classroom.

By teaching and modeling, learning and practicing the concepts and skills, students and all members of Beacon Preparatory Academy community are in a unique position to bring constructive conflict resolution skills into society.
